Yesterday You Said Tomorrow
26 year old trumpeter Christian Scott is one of the most exciting musicians on the US jazz scene today, and is on the brink of worldwide breakthrough with his new release for Concord – Yesterday You Said Tomorrow. Produced by the legendary Rudy Van Gelder, the album contains nods to the past and Christian’s heroes of the 1960s (from Miles Davis to Jimi Hendrix, and all points inbetween), while remaining entirely contemporary in its outlook.
Through his two previous Concord releases (Rewind This, and Anthem), Scott has developed his individual take on jazz and with this new record is set to take it to the wider audience it deserves. Yesterday You Said Tomorrow contains a cover version of Thom Yorke’s “The Eraser”, and a collaboration with Dan Le Sac & Scroobius Pip (available on 7” vinyl) is attracting serious attention in UK hip hop circles, while his appearance in November as a sideman to Marcus Miller attracted rave reviews.
