Multi-platinum, award winning singer/songwriter Melody Gardot performed at the Opening Ceremony of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival on May 12th at the Palais des Festivals. Her spectacular performance included a medley of songs from the blockbuster films Alice In Wonderland, A Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice in honour of their director Tim Burton. The Academy Award nominee is this year’s President of the Jury at the Festival.
Melody said of the experience, “Being invited to perform at the festival, especially for Tim Burton, is a huge thrill for me as I have been a major fan of Burton’s films for years! I grew up watching his films and find his mind to be incredibly creative. His use of light, color and the ability to dream while awake mirrors the way I feel about music.”
