“Sleep” drifts teacher into Grammy Award success

Dr. Brian McLaughlin, a music teacher at West Milford High School North Jersey USA, has been nominated for the Grammy Music Educator award, following his performance of Eric Whitacre’s ‘Sleep’.


The performance was so breath-taking, recalls one of his students, that the audience sat silent for nearly 30 seconds – “they didn’t want to break that silence afterward”.


Announced during the 55th Grammy Awards in February, the prize seeks to recognize the contributions of music educators nationwide who have had a lasting impact on their students.
