Tom Lewis
Head of A+RBorn in Liverpool (greatest City in the world). Grew up playing the trumpet. Studied Jazz in Texas and Psychology in Bristol.
Have been working in the Music Industry since 1997 – started at EMI doing marketing and international marketing on both EMI Classics and Blue Note acts. Came to Universal where I became Head of Jazz (Jamie Cullum, Diana Krall, George Benson, Madeleine Peyroux) then worked as Head of Marketing working with Jamie, Katherine Jenkins, Andrea Bocelli, Russell Watson, Bryn Terfel amongst many others. Moved to A&R in 2006 working on (in no particular order and amongst many others) Imelda May, Kirsty Almeida, The Roads, Lexie Stobie, Faryl Smith, The Fron Male Voice Choir, All Angels, The Pipes and Drums of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, The Band of the Coldstream Guards, The Puppini Sisters, Katherine Jenkins, The Choirboys, The Cistercian Monks of Stift Heiligenkreuz, The Salvation Army, The Kenyan Boys Choir.
Current desert island discs (constantly changing): Found a Job (Talking Heads), Spanish Key (Miles Davis), Journey to the Line (Hans Zimmer), Eternal Source of Light Divine (Handel), Most of the Time (Status Quo), Shake Your Rump (Beastie Boys), Where I End and You Begin (Radiohead), Masters of War (Bob Dylan). Luxury: sailing boat (is that allowed?)
Total inspiration: Sophie & Calypso Lewis, Miles Davis, Ernest Shackleton, George Mallory, David Byrne, Bob Dylan, brave people, boats, anyone who can write an amazing song (it’s a dark art).
Ambition: to play lots of brilliant, inspiring music to lots of people.
