An expectant crowd consisting of Record Company Executives, Producers, International TV Bookers, Music Critics, Sponsors and of course the highest profile Classical Artists of 2010 crammed into the room, conversation halted (almost) by two fanfare trumpeters of The Coldstream Guards - a very appropriate introduction for the Co Chair of the Classical Brits Committee to welcome everyone and then to handover to the beautiful Danielle De Niese who went on to host the evening so well.
Highlights of some stunning performances from the first 10 years of The Classical Brits (Lang Lang and Herbie Hancock, Bryn Terfel and Andrea Bocelli, Bond, Nigel Kennedy to name but a few) were followed by the announcements of the various category nominations (including the much coveted NS&I Album of The Year).
These nominations were interspersed with excellent live performances by the violinist Jack Liebeck, The Quartet Ebene and rounded off by the host for the evening Danielle De Niese stunning everyone lucky enough to be present with "Da Tempeste" from Handel's Giulio Cesare (included on her new album "Diva" which is released in the UK on July 12th).
The Classical Brit Awards 2010 are at London's Royal Albert Hall on 13th May hosted for the third year running by Myleene Klass and broadcast the following week on ITV1.
