The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Kate Beckinsale  and was directed by Martin Scorsese who is known as one of the greatest American filmmakers  for directing movies such as Taxi Driver, GoodFellas, and The God Father.  The Aviator features original music composed, orchestrated and conducted by Academy Award®-winner Howard Shore, composer of the best-selling, award-winning Lord of the Rings soundtracks.

Formally educated at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Shore recorded with the group "Lighthouse" from 1969-1972 and served as one of the original creators of Saturday Night Live where he was Musical Director from 1975-1980.   Howard Shore went on to compose music for many blockbusters including; Gangs of New York, The Silence of the Lambs and The Lord of the Rings trilogy for which he garnered three Academy Award® nominations and two wins for his Return of the King score. 

Miramax Films presents The Aviator, a story of aviation pioneer Howard Hughes (DiCaprio), the eccentric billionaire industrialist and Hollywood film mogul, famous for romancing some of the world's most beautiful women. The drama recounts the years of his life from the late 1920s through the 1940s, an epoch when Hughes was directing and producing Hollywood movies and test flying innovative aircrafts he designed and created.
